Everesting Pen y Fan

By 28th July 2017 No Comments

On the 4th and 5th of August, 2 local athletes will be “Everesting” Pen y Fan in aid of Rhiannas Swing.

22 Ascents of Pen-Y-Fan!!

What is Everesting?
Running up and down any chosen hill repeatedly until the equivalent height of Mt Everest (8,848 metres) is reached.

Mark Evans and Royston Whitney will be running/walking the 22 ascents of Pen Y Fan and will cover a total distance of 86 miles during the challenge. We are appealing for members of the running and walking community of South Wales to come out and show support by running with them. They are looking for runners to run any distance they want. You will be required to donate to Rhianna’s Swing and in return will be part of something special.

To climb Pen-Y-Fan once is an amazing feat but to do it 22 times over 30-36 hours will not only be physically tough but also mentally tough. Runners will all be running together and will be averaging anything between 15 and 30 minute miles as the challenge progresses.

The challenge will start at Port ar Daf car park (just down from Story Arms) and will go up the main path and skirt under Corn Du and climb up to the summit of Pen-Y-Fan for 2 miles and will return to the car park making a 4 mile out and back.

For those who would like to donate to this epic challenge please use their Just Giving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/everesting-penyfan
